Missoula Montana.. Awesome place to be and home to the big skies

So how many of you have actually been to Montana?.. How about Missoula Montana? traveled through? Well either way it is a awesome place to be. The home of the Big sky. If you have never been I would highly suggest taking a trip to Missoula. Its a small university town with lots of things to do. People who have lived there for years would argue that there may be not much to do BUT that's because they know that place like the back of their hands. So with Missoula being just absolutely beautiful look it up online and see what you can find out about it. This is where  I was born and raised and met my husband. Who knows what you can find or see while you there. This is also where the movie " A river runs  through it" starring Brad Pitt was filmed. Because of the amazing rivers and the Clark fork good for fly fishing its a huge sport/hunting feature of Montana.  I will list here a  few of the favorites there in Missoula. Sometimes some things are held during certain times of the years but there are areas you can still visit for fun.

1. Cara's Park Downtown Missoula. It is located right next to the Clark Fork River and has a walking path that goes all the way down towards the university and then I believe runs through Broadway to the Missoula Walk bridge.

2. The water park located by the South Hills and Sentinel High School.  This is obviously only open when its warm and weather conditions are permitting. This is a fun place to take the fam during the summer.

3. The  "M"  or the "L" They are so visible to just about everyone who is even just passing through Missoula. The M is on the right hand side and the L is  on the left hand side but that can change depending on which way your coming in on I-90. These are to hike. So if you like to hike and get a bit of exercise and see the awesome views after you reach the top.. this is the task to tackle! Beautiful picture opportunity because it over looks Missoula itself.

4. The South Gate Mall Located at the south end of town but with much of the shopping in one place is a great single leveled mall to go to. If you should go here go to the t-shirt/sweater shop and pick yourself up a hoodie or pair of sweats or even a t-shirt that says MONTANA! You don't have to get the one that says grizzlies on it because Its our hometown university college football team, but hey if you want to support us that's okay too!  This is also a TAX FREE state so expect to pay NO TAXES on your purchases! How nice huh?

5. Fort Missoula. Ahhh a taste of some older history. I believe this is one of the oldest parts of missoula. Missoula Is old all together but I think this place has some history behind it that may be interesting to you. A lot of people hold their weddings here. Its beautiful and an awesome place for pictures. IF your there during the fall, its AMAZING the colors are awesome. Famous Burials have also been placed on the home site for Missoula here is the link.  http://www.ci.missoula.mt.us/index.aspx?nid=233  this will provide some interesting info and here is the link for fort Missoula http://www.fortmissoulamuseum.org/index.htm

6.The University of Montana. Also known as the U Of M. The campus there is pretty just in itself. take a walk through and look at all the different areas.

7. Downtown Missoula Also located near the U Of M. This is a very old part of town as well with many local mini shops for shopping. Food attractions are also available and tasty! down at the end of the stretch you will see three red X's standing together and to the right of that is a old train in what use to be the old train station I believe? Anyways this is always a fun little attraction to go see.

8. Winter time! there are some mountains open and available for rentals for ski or Snowboarding. This is one of Missoula's favorites because usually there is a downpour of fresh white powder each year. Be sure to dress warm!

9.Garnet ghost town... eerie! this is a must see because its TRULY a history site with pretty much everything original left in this small town. Even the spirits. I went there as a elementary kid and could remember hearing some eerie things, promise you its not in your head its real! Here is the link for the site. I'm not sure how far out of Missoula it is, maybe an hour or two? Check it out!  http://www.garnetghosttown.net/default.cfm

Okay so this is what I could come up with for now. I think Missoula is very worth a Visit! I miss home so much. Enjoy!
